2 Steps to Start Organizing PhotosFor most people, the thought of organizing photos from the beginning to NOW is overwhelming! It seems like such a daunting task that most people just walk away and hope to get to the project another day. If you want to get started organizing photos, here are two easy steps you can take TODAY!

1. Pull everything out

Gather up all of your photos – yes, ALL of your photos! Go to each closet, drawer, shelf, box, cabinet, bin and container… pull out all of your photos. Gather a few empty boxes or bins that you will put them into after step 2. Don’t get distracted looking at little Johnny’s first haircut or Suzie’s retirement party! Stay focused. You are on a mission… a treasure hunt! You will not be able to efficiently organize the photos if you don’t have them all. If you need to pick some of your photos up from your mom’s house – Do It! Did I mention – ALL of the photos?!?

 2. Separate memorabilia from photos

It is important to separate out all of the photos from the memorabilia, if you are going to organize {& maybe digitize} your photos. Most scanners and scanning services will not handle ticket stubs, name tags and other memorabilia. Sort out all of the photos into one area and all of the memorabilia into another. Put the memorabilia away! Yes, away! We are not dealing with it during this project and do not need the distraction.
