Are you thinking about moving?  Do you want to put your home on the market?  Has your realtor told you that you need to de-clutter your home before you can even think about letting someone inside?  Don't know where to start?  We can help!

First of all, why de-clutter?  There are many things out of your control when it comes to selling your house, such as: location, the economy, other houses on the market, etc. However, you can control presenting your house in the best way possible.

Buyers want to visualize the home as "theirs".  If your house is full of clutter, they will not be able to see past your stuff and picture themselves in your house.  Although not necessarily true, a cluttered house may be thought of as a dirty house.  Another turnoff for potential buyers.

The number one reason people want a new home is to have more space.  By de-cluttering your home, you will give the impression of adequate storage space.  If potential buyers see over-crowded closets and items falling out of cabinets, they will most likely think that the house does not have enough storage for their belongings

Another reason for de-cluttering is to eliminate doubts about possible bigger problems.  If your house looks neat and organized, it gives the impression that you take good care of all of your possessions.  This ensures buyers that the house in general has been well taken care of.

Lastly, de-cluttering before you sell your house, will save you time and money when you are ready to move.  It just does not make sense to pay a moving company to pack, load, transport, and unload items that you do not need or are not using in your current home.

De-cluttering your home is one of the simplest and least expensive things you can do to ready your home for selling.  If you are still not sure how to proceed, give us a call. We can help!
